Now, hold on. Before you start bombarding me with messages of how heartless I am, let me try to explain myself. I lost my mother when I was about 15. Well, I didn’t lose her as much as she died. That said, every time Mother’s Day rolls around, people just assume your mom is still alive and kicking. They ask you what you’re doing for Mother’s Day. They tell you what they’re doing. Greeting card commericals remind you to “send the very best.” It’s pretty depressing. I’m just glad my father is still around. Mother’s Day sucks.
I feel the same way about father’s day. Both my parents are still alive, but my kids’ dad is such an asshole. I feel bad for them on Father’s Day and guilty that I was such an idiot in choosing a partner. Live and learn.
I am sorry to hear about your mother though. You probably are sick of hearing that. Maybe you could spend Mother’s Day um, I’ll forego the suggestions. You might think they are rude.

As for mothers, well – I think most people resent theirs. I’ve been reading Oprah’s mother issue voraciously trying to get over it. Pathetic.
The world does not revolve around Oprah. Although at one time she did look like a planet.
That, Smiv, was much funnier than any pun. And unfortunately, I was only partially kidding.
However, I have made great strides this week in understanding and not resenting my mother.
We had a long, long talk and after my entire life she let’s me in on some really crazy childhood stuff that definitely explains why she did other crazy childhood stuff to me and the sibs. I understand it, but I’ll tell you what -people who keep secrets for decades suck! I guess that’s just more resentment and I’ve really gotten nowhere.
You’ve picked an excellent time to make ammends with your mom. She may have fucked you up when you were young, but at least you’re not hooked on crack…or are you?
